Yesterday my best friend and partner was violently chased by police, beaten down and arrested. We were taking part in a peaceful protest, part of a global resistance against financial institutions. He was one of over 40.
Police formed a kettle around the peaceful protestors, informing us that we were in violation of Section 14 of the public order act and that we were to disperse immediately or face arrest. I stayed within the kettle but my partner left.
In the distance I saw my partner being attacked by a group of 6 police officers as they forcibly placed him in cuffs. He was not near the kettle. He had not committed any offence. There was no justifiable reason for his arrest. He was a target of the Met and City Police.
We need to question why this is happening to our peaceful, beautiful brothers and sisters. I watched in horror as a woman was forcibly dragged from her wheelchair, another woman was suffocated and dragged screaming. The police are a ruthless, brutal machine. They have no feeling. They lack humanity. It is important for us to take this into account for our own safety.
I used to have commiseration for the police when my comrades would talk about them with such disdain. I believed you cannot paint a whole with the same brush. I was wrong.
After witnessing the events of the last month, first and second hand, and seeing my partner incarcerated twice in 12 twelve days, beaten under the fallacy of ‘reasonable force’ and even harmed while in custody, I am now taking an active stand. I spoke to several police officers - they found these events- these arrests - these mistreatments as commonplace. There was an air of excitement among them - to arrest more.
How can we call these individuals pigs when we know pigs have the ability to feel sadness and pain. No. The police department are drones, and those who do have heart are unfortunately cowards for adhering and not standing up to injustice. WE ARE ALL ONE. Brothers and sisters around the world, police or protestor. These people do not understand this. But we need this only to be a reminder of our own humanity. And it is a blessing indeed.
We must continue to rise up together and take a stand, and send a powerful message to these institutions that instutionalize us- THINGS NEED TO CHANGE. And the change is coming.
Insha’allah. Namaste. Peace.
Yesterday thousands of peaceful protests were staged around the world to send a strong message to the financial institutions. One was in London outside the Bank of England.
The Police ransacked the crowd- arresting individuals that were not even within the kettle, targeting specific people. Some say we should not paint the police with the same brush, they are after all here for our best interest. But when you wear a uniform and are complacent in the violent acts that I witnessed yesterday against innocents including women, and the disabled in wheelchairs, I now say this is a JIHAD.
We must continue to fight - to peacefully protest, and through this we will bring awareness to the current state of the world’s governments. We will not be complacent. We will not fight your wars. We will not use your institutions and we will not succumb to your threats.

After the eviction of St Pauls and the School of Ideas, I found myself at Finsbury Square, a friendly eco village.
I was delighted to see how the community was thriving in light of the evictions - and how symbiotic this site was for what Occupy is trying to communicate to the world - a project of self-sustainability that will bring communities together and empower them.
The occupation - the refusal to forget the injustices caused by the politicians and our explorations for an eco-friendly way of life - continues.

New retouching :)
My talented friend Steven Lawson sent me this image to retouch today and this is what I came up with.
